Our timber is mostly 'thinnings'. This means that the smaller trees are cut down to allow the better specimens to grow freely. This woodland was approximately eighty years old. By thinning the canopy ground growth is encouraged as well as ensuring that the remaining trees grow healthily. It is part of a cycle that has gone on for hundreds of years. We have been supplying timber in the area for five years and we are currently planting over 10,000 trees in new woodland here in The National Park.
